Will Lepinski has been selected as one of the artists in aCross Lincoln, a celebration of faith through artwork sponsored by First Plymouth Congregational Church. The project features local artwork incorporating crosses, and extends the beauty of the artist’s gift by donating the proceeds of an auction of the artwork to local charities.
Will’s work is entitled “Drawn by Faith” because Will has always had a certain draw, or attraction for crosses. It could be the architectural appeal, or possibly finding comfort in the familiar. His family prefers to recognize that pull as a spiritual connection for him.
Will was 15 years old when he created this piece and has a minimum of eight hours of applied behavior analysis therapy daily for autism spectrum disorder. His therapy program provides a structure for him to learn and interact successfully in all environments through a wide range of curriculum. Many things in his life are difficult and frustrating, with expressing himself being especially challenging. Learning visually is a strength for him. His natural gift with art has allowed him a creative avenue to freely experience success without the constraints of the communication barriers of autism. |
